HEALTH & SAFETY

1. Make sure you have a clear working area. Any bags or makeup carriers should be moved out of the way to create as much space as possible and to avoid people tripping over them.
2. Hair should always be tied back and away from the face. It will enable you to see clearly and will stop you from constantly touching your hair.
3. You shouldn't have long nails or chipped nail polish. Your nails should look as clean as possible. Having long nails means that you can't always clean underneath them and so by touching peoples faces you will be spreading germs.
4. Clean hands! You should make sure you wash your hands before you start putting on someone's makeup and after!
5. Always make sure your work space is clean and always have bed roll ready when creating a look. Putting your products on the bed roll means that you don't damage the work space or your actual products.
6. Make sure you don't have any festival bands or dangling bracelets. Not only do they get in the client's face but they also carry a lot of bacteria.
7. You need to make sure your client is covered up using a gown so you don't spill any makeup on their clothing.
8. Always make sure you clean your brushes before and after doing a client's makeup.
9. Make sure you scrape your products with disposable spatulas or a plastic reusable one, this makes sure there's no double dipping into products which will reduce bacteria and germs spreading.
10. Make sure they lighting is on before you start your clients look. This will make it more clear for you (the makeup artist) to see what the makeup will look like on camera as the lights create more of a high definition look.
