SKIN PREPARATION
Every makeup artist should first know the skin very well before applying makeup. This is an essential rule as makeup means enhancing your/their best features and hiding imperfections. The first thing to consider is the face shape, visible marks and what do you want to accentuate and express through the makeup style you are going to create.
Prepare the skin
1. Always before applying makeup prepare the skin properly. First, clean the face from all impurities and dirt by removing them with a special face cleansing lotion.
2. Exfoliate! To get rid of dead skin cells and create soft skin.
3. Use a serum before applying moisturiser to infuse additional rich vitamins and minerals into your skin. Post-exfoliation is the perfect time for applying a serum because the pores, which tend to trap in makeup and excess oil, have just had a deep cleaning.
4. Use a moisturiser that suits the skin type and offers day long hydration. This will plump up the skin, providing a smooth, even surface for makeup application.
5. A face primer. For the final pre-makeup skin treatment, look for a primer with silicone as a main ingredient. Primers also act as a protective barrier preventing your moisturiser and skin's oils from mixing with your makeup.
TIPS
- If you/they have an oily skin, choose gentle and oil-free cleansers, while for a dry skin, cleansers that moisturise the skin are the best choice, and cleansers that soothe and heal the skin for sensitive skin.
- Toners remove traces left by cleansing and supporting, they also tighten pores.
- Makeup is easier to apply on a moisturised skin. Apply face cream on wet skin as the skin will absorb more cream.
