3 FACECHARTS

After learning about the different types of colours on the colour wheel, I decided to explore different face charts looking into the different types of colours.

1. Complementary

Complementary colours are two colours which are directly opposite on the colour wheel. I chose to look at blue and orange. Both colours compliment each other and create a good contrast. I used a slight pattern on my face chart down the face ( Orange - blue - orange - blue - orange ). The purpose of this was so that each section complemented each other.

I used orange on the forehead and eyebrows, then blue for the eyeshadow. Followed by orange on the eyeliner and cheeks, then blue on the lips. And finally, orange under the neck.

2. Analogous

Analogous colours are any three colours that are side by side on a 12 part colour wheel. I chose to use Purple, Pink and Red-Pink to create this face chart. All the colours look similar but all compliment each other in a different way to the complimentary face chart.

I used the kryolan supra-colour in 079 on the lips to stand out against the purples and pinks. I used a pale purple on the eyes and the same supra colour on the eyebrows which contrasted against each other in a nice way.

3. Monochromatic

My final design is a monochromatic one. Monochromatic colours are all the colours of a single hue. They use variations in lightness and saturation of a single colour. For my face chart I used green tones. I'm really happy with this face chart and want to explore it more. All of the features on the face and under the neck have different shades of green on them which all go well together.
